Scope & content
Fonds consists of 183 digital scans of black & white photographs depicting scenes of everyday life in urban Toronto that were taken by photographer Brian Condron between 1968 and 1984. Photographs were predominantly shot while roaming Toronto’s downtown core with a Leica camera, by foot or on transit, candidly and unobtrusively capturing the built environment and the diversity of people engaged in their daily lives within it. Condron's photographs evoke many moods found in Toronto life ranging from the humorous to the solemn, the mundane to the strange, but all distinctive to the city. Locations in Toronto include commercial Yonge Street, the Financial District, Nathan Philips Square, Bloor Street West, the Danforth, and sections of Yorkville.
