Scope & content
1 page, double-sided. Folded once horizontally and once vertically. Pink fiscal stamp with brown edging affixed at top left corner, value of 1.5 Austrian schillings. Document is a certificate issued by the Chief of Police in Vienna, documenting the addresses of Salomon Heiss from 1914 to 1931. Information typed into form which continues onto verso. Narrative: Salomon and Sara Heiss were the parents of the donor, Erika Bloom. The Heiss family fled Nazi-occupied Vienna in 1938, after Salomon was arrested and detained in Dachau for 3 days. They survived the war in Shanghai, immigrated to Israel in 1949, and eventually settled in Montreal.
